Sabrina Aasheim

Hello!  My name is Sabrina, and music has always been my passion.  It’s like my first language, really:  when I was young I actually sang before I spoke and I always understood what people meant better if they sang an instruction to me.   I have performed in a community choir since I was 8 years old, and really love when I get the chance to sing solo in front of a big audience.

I am currently enrolled in my second year at Berkshire Hills Music Academy (BHMA) in South Hadley, Mass.  This is an amazing college-like program for young adults with intellectual disabilities who are looking to expand their social, vocational, and life skills in a music-infused environment.  At  BHMA I receive daily instruction in singing and performance as well as community and independent living skills training.  My musical tastes range from 70s folk (James Taylor and Simon and Garfunkel) to modern pop & classic rock (Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift & Bruce Springteen), but Broadway is my favorite!  I was recently invited to be a featured performer at BHMA’s annual gala, where I sang “Tomorrow” from “Annie.”

I am very grateful to have received a Kodi Lee Gives Back grant from the Flutie Foundation last year to support my tuition at BHMA as well as start my own digital singing telegram business.   I am so excited that I can do something with my talent that will bring joy to people and allow me to make a living doing something I truly love!
