Enter our Flutie Fellows program. Currently, we have five amazing young adults with autism in our Flutie Fellows program who are invited to collaborate with the Flutie Foundation to pursue their career-related goals. We provide compensation to our Flutie Fellows for a minimum of one year (or on a project basis) and help them make connections and build relationships in chosen industries/communities. Read below to see the incredible strides our Flutie Fellows have made, just in this year!

Andrew Roberts

Meet Andrew Roberts, aspiring sports broadcaster! Andrew had a busy year, starting in January when he filmed a behind-the-scenes project featuring Flutie Fellow Kyle Grossman in his marathon training.

In August, Andrew traveled to the infamous Falmouth Road Race to interview our Dougie’s Team runners, including Kyle Grossman!

To celebrate our 20th Anniversary Flutie 5K, Andrew emceed our record-breaking event that brought in over 1,200 runners and raised over $105,000 to help people and families with autism live life to the fullest!

Andrew ended 2019 by hosting his 1st fundraising event, “Gonk Knocks,” which showcased his project filming behind-the-scenes footage of the Algonquin Football Team practices throughout the season. Congratulations, Andrew, on creating this awesome project and hosting a successful event at Apex Entertainment!

Kyle Grossman

Meet Kyle Grossman, a marathoner and team member for the 2020 Boston Marathon Dougie’s Team! In May, our dedicated partners at Get Air Sports, followed Kyle in his journey to the Boston Marathon!

The Falmouth Road Race was a no-brainer for Kyle, and he traveled from California with his awesome family to run the New England summer 10K. While he was there, he was photographed by Flutie Fellow Connor Thompson, and exclusively interviewed by Andrew Roberts.

In November, Kyle ran the Two Cities Half Marathon and finished 3rd in his age group!

Kyle is hard at work training for the 2020 Boston Marathon, so stay tuned for his incredible running successes!

Connor Thompson

Meet Connor Thompson, photographer and musician! Connor joined us this year as a Flutie Fellow and has already made an inspiring impact!

In July, Connor learned how to use his new camera and wrote his first blog as a Flutie Fellow!

Connor also attended our 2019 Flutie Fellow party at the Falmouth Road Race and took incredible pictures of the runners!

Connor was our event photographer at our 20th Anniversary Flutie 5K and did an incredible job of capturing action photos of the exciting day!

The year ended for Connor with the Flutie Foundation purchasing holiday cards that Connor photographed through Spectrum Inspired Photography and insert picture of his cards.

Michael Palmer

Meet Mike Palmer, our 2019 and upcoming 2020 Dougie’s Team Boston Marathon runner and speaker! Mike kicked off 2019 with a fantastic fundraising challenge and even got Gronk to participate!

In April, Mike completed his first Boston Marathon!

September launched the creation of Joe Chirichella Athletics (hyperlink) and Mike represented the Flutie Foundation at the launch with Paul Wahlburg!

Mike ended November by speaking at the 2019 New England Inclusion Summit in Boston! Now he is training for the 2020 Boston Marathon!

Lavender Darcangelo

Meet Lavender Darcangelo, our newest Flutie Fellow. Lavender is an aspiring singer, advocate and speaker. In September, Lavender wowed us by singing the National Anthem at our Flutie 5K.

In 2020, Lavender is working on creating and producing her first album and plans on making appearances at Flutie Foundation events! We are excited for what 2020 will bring for our newest Flutie Fellow! See below, a breathtaking duet.
