Oanh and Tiny Bui

Oanh is a leader and autism mom who took responsibility for her community and founded the Circle of Vietnamese Parents, working tirelessly to ensure access and opportunity for her community. Her daughter Tiny is a STARS of the Spectrum Ambassador who advocates for the nonspeaking autism community. The Flutie Foundation works closely with Oanh and Tiny in many capacities, collaborating to support diverse communities, while also ensuring that the nonspeaking autism community is heard and represented.

I still remember the day in 2009 when I walked into the Flutie Foundation office to pick up a desktop computer for Tiny. I was an immigrant mom, just trying to help my daughter learn and find her place in this world. I never imagined that one day Tiny would become an autism ambassador for the Flutie Foundation.
Being named to the Flutie 50 means so much to us. This honor does not belong only to Tiny and me. It belongs to our whole Vietnamese community and to every family who has walked this journey with us.
For many years, as a mom and a volunteer, I have worked to build the Circle of Vietnamese Parents. Flutie gave us more than funding. You believed in our Vietnamese-speaking families. Together, we helped families feel less alone, find support, and celebrate our children, including at our annual Tết celebration.
Thank you, Flutie Foundation, for planting the seeds and helping us grow while staying rooted in our language, culture, and traditions. We are proud to be part of a much bigger autism family!
