The Flutie Foundation is proud to annually support a cohort of athletes in search of a Boston Marathon qualification via the Adaptive Program for Runners by sponsoring a team at the Beantown Marathon. This annual Boston Marathon Qualifier takes place in early September in Hingham, MA and falls within the qualification window for the following year's Boston Marathon.

Athlete Benefits:

The Flutie Foundation strives to eliminate barriers to qualification for the Boston Marathon for adaptive runners through our Beantown Marathon team by providing accepted athletes a comprehensive support package to maximize success including:

  • Travel expense reimbursement: Airfare + hotel room (for non-Boston area athletes) in dedicated block for the athlete.
  • Registration fee reimbursement.
  • Professional marathon coaching (Boston, MA + virtual).
  • Ground transportation on race weekend to and from the race venue and team events.
  • Support runner crew, including 1 on 1 support runner matching ahead of race day.
  • Race day support and supplies through a dedicated aid station.
  • Dougie's Team for Autism gear.
  • Post-race team dinner.

 

Runner Requirements:

Runners interested in completing the Beantown Marathon with the Flutie Foundation must be in good physical condition and have previous running experience, ideally having completed at least one half marathon previously, however previous runners possess a wide range of running experience. Runners must be able to complete a marathon in under six (6) hours.
